Confessions of a Podcast Lover: “I’m Listening” to These Gems!

, ,

In the era of everyone (including me!) speaking their thoughts into a microphone like Dr. Frasier Crane, here’s a list of my favorite podcasts, which I look forward to every flipping week!

“Keep It!”

Hosted by Ira Madison III and Louis Virtel, “Keep It!” features two of the funniest people to grace us with their very opinionated voices and humor! They discuss all types of movies — current, old, you name it — and while I’m no movie buff, I truly enjoy their takes. They also interview a variety of people mid-podcast, often offering insights into a role they’re working on or inviting friends of the podcast to chime in on topics. But the absolute best part of “Keep It!” is the end, where they both declare what they want “Keep It” to. I highly encourage you to listen to Louis’s “Keep It” topic this week! It’s hilarious, and I completely agree there is no song of the summer this year! This podcast just feels like you’re listening to a fun conversation at a party with some of the coolest people who decided to let you in. My Wednesday hump days are boring no more because of these two!

“What Now? with Trevor Noah”

This podcast is flipping tremendous! I became a true fan of Trevor’s after reading his book “Born A Crime” a few years back. This podcast features Trevor’s chats with his friends or experts in a particular field. I love it when he talks with experts about big world issues like anxiety, ADHD, and politics. But my absolute favorite episodes are when he and his friends, Josh Johnson and Christiana, play a game called “If I Ruled the World.” Here, they declare a way to fix something in our world, and others vote yes or no. You learn so much about how each of them thinks, but you also learn about real-world issues and different ways to approach problems. I’ve had some of the deepest laughs watching and listening to these episodes.

“Armchair with Dax Shepard”

Hosted by Dax Shepard and Monica Padman, I’ve been listening to this podcast for a few years, and I still love it! On Mondays, they interview and chat with a celebrity about life, or perhaps a new project they’re promoting. But my favorite episodes are when they speak with experts in their fields; I get to learn so much about areas of work that I would otherwise have no clue about. For example, today’s episode features Eric Topol, a cardiologist. This podcast also has something called a “Fact Check,” where they discuss their past weekend shenanigans, get into debates about politics, or maybe Dax even cuts Monica’s hair. It’s just random fun with two chums who consistently bring out the best in the people they talk with.

So, if your ears are craving some brilliant banter, deep dives, or just a good old “Fact Check,” you know exactly where to tune in. Happy listening, podcast pals!
