Holidays, Magic, & Coffee!

,

It’s that time of the year again! (Cue my best Mariah Carey impression)

The holiday season is fast approaching, and while my wallet may not be on board for extravagant gifts, trips, and the inevitable holiday hips, I can’t help but anticipate the magic of this wonderful time. For me, it’s not just about the material things; it’s the weather, the festive activities, and the blissful time off work. Living in a small town that feels like Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls adds an extra layer of charm, complete with a holiday lights parade and delightful family activities. But what truly warms my holiday heart is a comforting cappuccino or, on some days, a velvety hot chocolate.

In the true spirit of the season, I’ve got a coffee shop recommendation for all you Chicagoans and potential tourists in the Windy City. The Goddess and The Baker (specifically the Wabash location) embodies everything a coffee shop should be. The decor exudes bubbly upscale diner vibes, and the baristas? They’re not just skilled; they’re coffee wizards. Every time I order my vanilla cappuccino with oak milk, it’s a sip of perfection. You know how some places hit the mark only occasionally? Well, Goddess and The Baker hits it every single time. If you find yourself in Chicago this holiday season, this place is a must-visit. Sure, there might be a slight wait for your order, but perfection and well-crafted drinks take time.

Before I say farewell, I want to leave you with a gentle reminder: amidst the hustle and bustle, take a moment for self-care this holiday season. After all, gifts are not the sole reason for the season. As T.A. Barron beautifully puts it, “Every piece of the universe, even the tiniest little snow crystal, matters somehow. I have a place in the pattern, and so do you. Thinking of you this holiday season!”
